STARRALITY · LEGAL & POLICIES
Copyright &
Intellectual Property
Creativity belongs to the people who make it. Our approach is built around respecting original work, protecting rights, and providing clear ways to resolve intellectual property concerns across Starrality.
Our approach
Starrality is a social technology platform where people share posts, reels, images, videos, audio, messages, creative work, and experiences. We respect the intellectual property rights of creators, artists, businesses, and other rights holders, and expect everyone using our services to do the same.
This policy applies to content made available through Starrality's social feed, profiles, comments, Global Chat, Global Hangout, creator experiences, and commerce features where available. It complements our Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, and other applicable agreements.
Your content and ownership
You retain ownership of the intellectual property rights you hold in content you create and share on Starrality. Posting content does not transfer ownership to Starrality.
You are responsible for ensuring that you own or have the necessary rights to upload, distribute, display, or otherwise use that content. Being featured in a photograph or video does not necessarily make you the copyright owner. Attribution alone, purchasing a copy, or finding material online does not automatically give permission to repost it.
How Starrality uses content
When you submit content to Starrality, you grant the permissions described in our Terms of Service that are reasonably necessary to host, store, process, reproduce, display, distribute, adapt for technical formats, and deliver your content according to your settings and the features you use.
This operational permission is not an automatic sale or assignment of your work. It does not, by itself, authorize Starrality or another business to license your content for an unrelated advertising campaign. Separate authorization and applicable agreements are required for commercial uses beyond the platform permissions you grant.
Deleting content or your account affects these permissions as described in the Terms of Service and Account & Data Deletion Policy, subject to lawful retention, existing authorized uses, and technical limitations.
Permissions and third-party rights
Do not upload or use copyrighted images, films, music, performances, books, software, designs, or other works without the necessary permission or another lawful basis. Do not remove rights-management information or bypass technological protections unlawfully.
Exceptions such as fair use may apply in some circumstances, but they are fact-specific. Starrality may assess complaints and remove or restrict content when warranted; we do not determine every legal question of ownership or fair use.
Music, video and sound
Music rights can include separate rights in a sound recording and the underlying musical composition. A license to use one does not necessarily cover the other. Users must have the rights required for music in reels, video posts, livestreams or rooms, voice recordings, and commercial content.
Music, GIFs, stickers, and other media offered through third-party integrations may have provider-specific licenses and usage restrictions. Availability within an interface does not necessarily permit off-platform advertising, resale, or other commercial exploitation.
Businesses and creators should confirm synchronization, master-recording, performance, and other applicable permissions before using music in promotional material.
Creators, brands and licensing
Creators and businesses may collaborate through Starrality. A creator's participation in a challenge, reward program, brand campaign, or product promotion does not automatically transfer copyright or grant unrestricted advertising rights.
Commercial use of creator content—including paid advertisements, whitelisting, edits, sublicensing, use on other platforms, and use beyond an agreed period or territory—requires appropriate authorization. Parties should document the permitted media, duration, territory, compensation, editing rights, and any exclusivity.
Creators must also secure permissions from collaborators, photographers, musicians, performers, and others whose rights may be included in their work. Starrality may provide tools to facilitate permissions, but a platform interaction alone should not be treated as a complete rights agreement.
Shopping and product listings
Sellers and advertisers are responsible for ensuring they have the rights to product photographs, videos, brand names, logos, descriptions, packaging, and other materials used in shoppable reels or listings. Counterfeit products, misleading claims of brand affiliation, and unauthorized use of protected materials are prohibited.
Starrality may remove listings, restrict shopping capabilities, or suspend accounts in response to credible infringement concerns, subject to applicable law and our review procedures.
AI and synthetic content
AI-assisted work may raise questions about ownership, training data, likeness rights, and licensing. Users are responsible for having the rights needed to share or commercially use AI-assisted or synthetic material and must not use such tools to impersonate others, misrepresent endorsement, or infringe intellectual property rights.
Copyright protection for AI-generated content depends on applicable law and the nature of human authorship. Starrality does not guarantee that AI-generated output is copyrightable or free of third-party claims.
Starrality intellectual property
The Starrality name, logos, distinctive branding, app interfaces, software, site design, and original company materials may be protected by trademark, copyright, and other laws. Except where expressly authorized, using Starrality's services does not grant a license to copy, sell, impersonate, or commercially exploit our intellectual property.
You may refer to Starrality truthfully, subject to applicable law, but must not imply endorsement, partnership, or official affiliation without authorization.
Reporting copyright infringement
If you own copyright or are authorized to act for an owner, you may submit a written notice identifying material you believe infringes your rights. For a notice under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the copyrighted work, or a representative list where appropriate.
- Identification of the allegedly infringing material and enough information for us to locate it, preferably direct URLs.
- Your name and sufficient contact details, including mailing address, telephone number, and email address where available.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the complained-of use is not authorized by the owner, the owner's agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are authorized to act for the owner of the relevant exclusive right.
Send notices to the designated copyright agent identified below. We may request additional information when a report is incomplete. We respond to sufficiently supported notices and other credible infringement concerns as required by applicable law.
The contact fields above must be completed with your actual designated agent details and matched to the U.S. Copyright Office registration before relying on the DMCA safe-harbor process.
Responding to a removal: counter-notifications
If your content was removed following a copyright notice and you believe it was removed because of mistake or misidentification, you may submit a DMCA counter-notification to our designated agent. Include your physical or electronic signature; identification of the removed material and where it appeared; your name, address, and telephone number; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed or disabled due to mistake or misidentification; and the legally required consent to jurisdiction and acceptance of service of process.
For a person in the United States, this generally means consenting to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district of your address. If outside the United States, it generally means consenting to the jurisdiction of a federal district court where the service provider may be found.
Where the statutory counter-notice process applies, we may restore content no sooner than 10 and no later than 14 business days after receiving a valid counter-notification, unless the original complainant notifies our agent that they have filed an action seeking a court order to restrain the allegedly infringing activity. We may share the counter-notification with the original complainant as required for this process.
Submitting a knowingly false copyright notice or counter-notification can have legal consequences.
Repeat infringement and enforcement
Starrality maintains a policy to terminate, in appropriate circumstances, accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyright. We consider valid notices, credible evidence, counter-notifications, and the circumstances of each case. Depending on the issue, we may remove or disable access to content, restrict features, issue warnings, or suspend or terminate accounts.
We seek to respect standard technical measures used to identify or protect copyrighted works as required by applicable law. Users may report mistakes through the channels identified in the relevant notice or by contacting our copyright team.
Trademarks, impersonation and other rights
Copyright is different from trademark, rights of publicity, privacy, and other legal protections. If someone uses your brand name or logo to confuse people, impersonates you, or uses your likeness without authorization, provide the relevant profile or content links, your contact information, and an explanation of your rights and concerns.
We may request proof of authority and evaluate reports under applicable law, our Terms of Service, and Community Guidelines. Copyright notices should not be used to resolve unrelated disagreements or suppress lawful criticism.
